Prom

Prom
In a way, I kind of dread prom. The whole dress/shoes/date drama is a lot to deal with, not to mention pictures and dinner reservations and making sure your dress really is the only one there. Don't get me wrong, I've got a great group of friends going and we have our dates and dinner is set to go, but there are just some people you wish you wouldn't have to see there. If my best friend was on here, she'd know what I mean. So anyway, this was made and finished a while ago, I just wasn't sure whether to post it or not. While making this, I discovered that coral was the way to go for my dress. It complements my skin tone and hair color. I knew I needed gold-toned shoes as well. Finally, I knew I needed a short dress. I'm 5'2"; my date is over 6ft. A long dress would swallow me up. As for accessories: I wanted a matching clutch (though it couldn't be Alexander McQueen of course) and complimentary jewelry. The four girls in the corner represent me and my 3 best friends. Later, I'll post my REAL prom outfit, to the last detail... Stay tuned :)

Fairytale Part 3: Snow White

Fairytale Part 3: Snow White
This has been the hardest set of the mini collection to finish. Nothing I had originally planned in my vision worked out, but I am happy with it. Snow White's lyrics pretty much describe her situation. She needs to get out of here and break routine, so she takes matters into her own hands. A bustier top is tight fitting and perfectly compliments the flowing femininity of the skirt, which could also (and was originally intended to be) in the high-low style. I had also originally planned to use heels, but the woven wedge is so much less "pretty girl stuck in a house full of men," if you catch my drift. They just work better all around. Add in some bright and edgy jewelry, especially the apple necklace, and you've got yourself a modern day Snow White.

Fairytale Part 2: Sleeping Beauty

Fairytale Part 2: Sleeping Beauty
This is the second part of my Fairytale Mini Collection. The Prince finally got his Princess, but it's not all it's cracked up to be for Aurora. She's tired, and I don't mean she hasn't gotten enough sleep. She's tired of this life and wants some adventure, not to be cooped up in a castle all day. Nothing to do but avoid spinning wheels. So she dreams all day and all night. So--now to the outfit: I see Aurora as having a very ethereal and floaty quality to her. So light and elegant, but with spunk and charm. The sweet ethereal side is portrayed by the lace top and long, flowing maxi skirt. I added a belt to give it a somewhat rustic/vintage edge. The colorful wedges are the part of her that wants to try new things and stand out, and they are hidden just out of sight by the skirt, just like she hides how much she wants to get out. I thought the bracelets complimented the shoes and gave the whole look some more elegance, as well as the necklace. The headband is meant to lie across the forehead/on the crown of the head.

Fairytale Part 1: Cinderella

Fairytale Part 1: Cinderella
This outfit is based on the song "Fairytale" by Sara Bareilles. In the song, none of the princesses got quite the happy ending they were expecting. Things got old quite quickly, and they each wish for a way out and to be independent. Cinderella's part of the song is in the set. As for the outfit, I wanted to keep the sweetness and down-to-earth qualities she maintains throughout the movie with the soft blue jeans, the loose creme top, the polka dot bow, and the brown lace-up booties (the color scheme resembling that of which she wears in the film). But in order to show her discontent with how her "happily-ever-after" worked out, I accessorized with striking black and gold jewelry and the spike-accented bag. Simple, sweet, and oh so ready to break out of here.
